Carleton students come from a wide range of educational backgrounds, and many Carleton courses draw students at different points in their college careers. This means that, when instructors teach and assign writing in their courses, they are likely to find that their students have varying levels of skill and experience with academic writing. Thus, figuring out how to design and teach writing assignments that challenge the most-prepared students in a course without unfairly excluding the least-prepared is a perpetual challenge.

The WAC Program most recently addressed this topic in a Zoom workshop in July 2023. You can download a PDF of the slides from that workshop here.
