Welcome, Faculty!
This section of the website collects the resources the WAC Program has developed to help with writing instruction, assignment design, and assessment in your courses, which include:
- The official guidelines for Writing-Rich (WR) courses at Carleton
- Guides for crafting AI course policies, AI-resistant writing assignments, assignments that incorporate AI, and other AI-related resources.
- Resources for designing effective writing assignments and assessing student writing, including advice on creating rubrics and working with writers at disparate skills levels
- Resources for using reflective and metacognitive writing to improve student learning, promote skill transfer, and improve inclusivity in your courses
- Recordings, handouts, and slides from various WAC workshops since 2018
The links to the left will help you navigate these pages. However, if you’re new to Carleton or simply new to teaching writing in your courses, you may want to start with the section labeled Teaching at a WAC School, which provides an overview of the expectations for student writing and faculty writing instruction in the Carleton curriculum.
To ask about any of these subjects, report broken or outdated pages, or request support on any subjects related to teaching writing at Carleton, contact George Cusack, the WAC Director.
