This past fall, students hosted Harvest Fest at the Carleton Student Farm. Following an afternoon of harvesting, students enjoyed a homemade dinner and performances by campus bands. Student-run since 1973, the 1.5-acre farm employs organic techniques such as drip irrigation and a hoop house (a type of greenhouse that is heated by the sun and cooled by the wind). Carleton’s dining halls purchase produce from the farm, and students use the proceeds to finance summer farm interns.
