Karmini Sampath ’09 and Moshe “Moses” Emilio Lavi ’11 are among the most recent Carls honored with Alumni Business Fellowship awards. Endowed by the late Charles Lofgren Sr. ’27, the fellowship supports alumni who wish to expand their leadership potential within the for-profit sector and who are at the point where mid-career education could transform their career.
Both Sampath and Lavi are enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Sampath, a former English major, is pursuing an MBA with a focus on quantitative finance and marketing. Lavi, a history major, has paired an MBA with an MA in international studies.
Lavi, who previously worked for the Israeli government, says the Lofgren support has been key to financing his studies: “It bridged some of the financial gaps I faced when I decided to enroll at Wharton, given I came from a financially humble background and spent most of my career in the public sector.”
