Dancers from Hālau Kiawekūpono O Ka Ua, a men’s hula school in Oahu, Hawaii, wait for the music to start in the Weitz Center’s dance studio. During their performance on campus in October, they demonstrated both modern hula dance and ancient hula traditions passed down through generations. The school’s name refers to “a good streak of rain” or, in another interpretation, “a streak of righteousness.”
