The Carleton Board of Trustees met off-site for a retreat in Boston, MA from February 6-8, 2025. All committee meetings were held via Zoom throughout the month of January. The following is a brief summary of major topics discussed and actions taken during their meeting:

1. The Board approved new faculty leaves of absence for 2025-26.

2. The Board approved the request for mid-year B.A. degrees, pending successful completion of their remaining requirements for graduation.

3. The Board approved the awarding of an Honorary Degree.

4. The Board approved tenure and promotion to Associate Professor for five faculty members: Sonya Anderson (Religion); Summer Forester (Political Science and International Relations); Andrea Mazzariello (Music); Meredith McCoy (American Studies and History); and Jake Morton (Classics).  

5. The Board approved the tax returns IRS 990, IRS 990-T, and IRS 4720 for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024.

6. The Board approved the comprehensive fee and operating budget for Fiscal Year 2026.

7. The Board approved a revision to the Community Standards policy.

8. The Board received an update on the Test Optional recommendation, and an update on facilities planning.

9. The Board received an update on campaign planning, and reviewed the possible campaign priorities.

10. The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) program for Trustees was launched. Trustees will participate in this program between February and May.

11. Trustees, Faculty, and members of the President’s Cabinet joined panel sessions with experts from Boston-area colleges and universities to explore important facets of the College’s strategic direction, Carleton 2033. Groups enriched their understanding of topics such as: Interdisciplinary Trends in Life Sciences Education, Environmental Studies as a Model of Interdisciplinary Education, Liberal Arts and Career Preparation, and The Competitive Landscape in Admissions and Financial Aid.
