The TRIO peer leaders help fellow TRIO students thrive at Carleton through a variety of efforts. Peer leaders plan and coordinate many activities, mentor first year students, and help the TRIO staff develop successful programs.
The TRIO office assistant is a current TRIO student. This position allows a TRIO student to experience the professional work of the TRIO office in the form of a work study position.

My favorite book is “The Great Gatsby,” and I really enjoy sushi. In my spare time, I like watching the TV show “All American” and the movie “Wedding Crashers.”
Hello everyone! My name is Esmeralda (Esme) Garcia-Ramirez, and I am a biology major! I come from Laurel, Delaware. Some short fun facts: I have watched Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith so many times I’ve lost count. I enjoy watching Netflix’s original series, The Umbrella Academy. I also love indoor/outdoor gardening! Lastly, my favorite ice cream flavors are strawberry and black raspberry ice cream. This is my second year being a TRIO Peer Leader!
Hi, everybody! I’m Krystal Gutierrez, a member of the Class of 2027 majoring in psychology, and potentially minoring in neuroscience, with an interest in studying clinical psychology to become a clinician or therapist (still in the works). I come from Houston, TX. I love listening to music, reading, crocheting, and hanging out with friends. My favorite dish is pozole (made by my mom). My favorite color is purple, lilac specifically. Hello, my name is Gloria Kossigan and I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am a biology major with a minor in French. Some fun facts about me is that I enjoy bizarre food combos, but my favorite weird combo of all time is Carleton’s vegetarian sausage with cream cheese and sriracha. It is a must try!!! I am also a weirdo because common foods that people like I don’t like. For example I don’t like fries, ice cream, fried chicken or burgers. On campus, my favorite place to study is Anderson and LDC. I am a pink girl though I don’t really wear pink.
