How it works
- Sign up for a membership! You’ll need a valid driver’s license. Most people are approved instantly and can book a trip in minutes. Vehicles are located in the Skinner Chapel parking lot.
- Book a round-trip car by the hour or day. Use the app to unlock and lock during your trip. Driving rates for the SUV and truck are ~$12.00/hour and ~$90.00/day (other fees may apply).
- Zipcar is not approved for CSA student organization related travel. Expenses related to Zipcar usage are not considered a CSA reimbursable expense.
- Return Zipcars only to their designated spots, located in front of the large, square, green Zipcar signs in the Skinner Chapel lot (right next to the Security vehicles)–even if you initially picked it up from a different spot. Failing to return Zipcars to their designated spots may result in a $50 fee.
- Helpful information: Before starting your Zipcar experience, allow 10-15 minutes for the vehicle inspection and photo documentation process. Ensure your cell phone is fully charged, as you’ll use it to lock and unlock the vehicle. Upon starting the car, you’ll hear a series of beeps as the vehicle searches for the “key” (your phone serves as the key). Spend extra time familiarizing yourself with the new vehicle; check your mirrors, headlights, Bluetooth, etc.

Zipcar App
You’ll need to download the Zipcar app to your mobile device in order to book a trip. You will use the app to unlock and lock during your trip. When you’re done, you’ll end the trip using the app.
