This uninterrupted span of time off for staff recognizes the benefits of a collective break. All offices are expected to close for winter break—except where continuous service is required.
This year, the December 24–25 and January 1 holidays will be combined with three winter break days to create one consecutive week of time off for most employees. Some employees will be required to work in order to maintain essential services to address student and campus needs during this time. Benefits-eligible employees who are required to work on winter break days will be able to take alternative time off before the end of the fiscal year. Please refer to the staff handbook regarding guidelines and eligibility parameters, and speak to your supervisor with any questions about time/leave reporting during winter break.
Accruals for the break have been loaded into Workday. All time off requests need to be submitted and approved by the following dates:
- All staff, bi-weekly and monthly, are required to submit their winter break time off requests by December 18
- NOTE: This is the first year monthly employees are required to submit requests for winter break.
- Manager approvals are due by December 20
