July 14, 2022: OIL Welcomes New Team Members

12 July 2022

I am pleased to announce the arrival of Marshall Bell as assistant director of Intercultural Life. Marshal recently earned his master’s in counseling and student personnel at Minnesota State University – Mankato, where he completed an internship at the Center for Inclusive Excellence at Gustavus Adolphus. He also worked as a coordinator for the North Star STEM Alliance, an initiative focused on doubling the number of traditionally underrepresented students pursuing degrees in STEM. Marshall began his work at Carleton on June 13.

Joining the OIL office as well is Edwinna Johnson as associate director. Edwinna has nearly two decades of experience working with diverse student populations in both K-12 and higher education. Most recently, Edwinna led orientation and commencement programs at Metropolitan State University, where she spearheaded a first-year support and retention program for students of color. Prior to that role, she led programming for BIPOC, international and first generation students as associate dean of intercultural programming and services at Bethel University in St. Paul. Edwinna joined us on July 7.
