Two Important Telecommunication Changes:
- All voicemail messages will now ONLY go to your email and not be stored on your phone. Additional information can be found at the following Accessing Voicemail link.
- You now need to dial an 8 (instead of a 9) to make a call from campus to a number outside of the college. For more information on this change see the Dialing Guide.

New Online Phone Portal
The new online portal can be used to manage your extension whether you are on or off-campus. Use this portal if you have a Grandstream desk phone, a Zulu softphone, or just an extension. The online portal dashboard allows you to forwarding your calls as well as a variety of other features included in these Online Portal Instructions

Voicemail
- Accessing your Voicemail
On Campus
1. Press the message key
2. Follow the prompts
Your pin will be your 4 digit extension number
Off Campus
1. Dial 507-222_ _ _ _ (your extension number) to access the voicemail system
2. When you hear the welcome greeting press the star key (*)
3. Enter your 4 digit extension and press the pound key (#)
4. Enter your 4 or 8 digit password followed by the pound key (#)
5. Listen to the prompt to hear your new message

On Campus
1. Dial 3737 or press the message button on your phone
2. Enter your password
3. Press 4 for setup options
4. Press 1 for greetings
5. Press 1 to re-record your greeting
6. Record your greeting and press # to save (1 to replay, 2 to save and * to return to the menu)
Off Campus
1. Dial 507 222-_ _ _ _ (your extension number) to access the Voicemail System.
2. When you hear the welcome greeting press the star key (*)
3. Enter your 4 digit extension number and then the pound key (#)
4. Enter your password followed by the pound key key (#)
5. Press 4 for setup options
6. Press 1 for greetings
7. Press 1 to re-record your greeting
8. Record your greeting and press # to save (1 to replay, 2 to save and * to return to the menu)
- Change your Voicemail Pin
In order to access your voicemail from your phone, you need to know your pin. If you do not, you can set a new one by going to https://cuc.carleton.edu/inbox/. (Note, this link will get you to all the settings for your voicemail.)
1. Sign in using your full Carleton email address and your normal Carleton password.
2. Click the “Settings” button. This will open a new tab.
3. Click the “Passwords” menu and select “Change Pin.”
4. Enter the pin you would like to use and confirm it. You will not be able to reuse one of your 5 previous pins.
** You can only change your pin once a day
Forward calls
On Campus
1. Press the Fwd All softkey
2. Dial the phone number you want to forward your calls. Remember that if you are forwarding your phone to somewhere off campus you must dial a 8 for an outside line and a 1 if it is a long distance (ie. 8507XXXXXXX or 81612XXXXXXX).
To stop the forwarding of your phone 1. Press the Fwd Off softkey
Off-Campus
1. Go to the Cisco Online Portal link
2. Log in using your full Carleton email address and your normal Carleton password.
3. Go to the Phones tab and call forwarding
4. Enter the phone number you want to forward your calls. Remember that if you are forwarding your phone to somewhere off campus you must dial a 8 for an outside line and a 1 if it is a long distance (ie. 8507XXXXXXX or 81612XXXXXXX).
