Understanding Error Messages

Cisco TCP/IP Suite displays an error message if it cannot perform as expected or if it encounters other errors as part of its normal operation. These messages either appear in a pop-up window or are reported through another utility, such as Ping.

Appendix A, Error Messages, identifies a number of error messages that Cisco TCP/IP Suite may encounter. It also explains why the message might appear and offers suggestions for resolving the problem.

If you encounter error messages:

  1. Follow any instructions that appear in the message. For example, some messages may ask you to close all applications, exit Windows, and reboot your workstation.
  2. Refer to Appendix A, Error Messages, for more suggestions on how to resolve the problem.
  3. Ask your network administrator for help.
  4. Contact Technical Support.
