Setting FTP Client Options

To set FTP Client options:

  1. Start the FTP Client application.
  2. Choose Program... from the Options menu.
  3. Check Show File Information to view the size of files, and the date and time they were last modified.
  4. Check Indicate Local Expandable Branches to include a + (plus) character on folder icons for directories that contain subdirectories. The + character appears only on folders on your local workstation and not on folders on the FTP server.
  5. In the Confirm On group, indicate whether you want to be prompted for confirmation when deleting files or directories.
  6. In the File Viewer field, enter the file name of the application you want to use to view files. Select a program that can view the types of files you usually work with (for example, NOTEPAD.EXE for text files, or a graphics program for graphic files.)
  7. In the E-Mail Address field, enter your electronic mail address. This entry is used as the password for anonymous logins.
  8. In the Default TCP Window Size field, enter the number of kilobytes you want FTP Client to use for the default data transfer window size. The default is 8KB. You might be able to improve performance by increasing this size to 32KB. If you are using SLIP, enter a lower value, such as 4KB.
