Starting and Stopping Telnet

To start Telnet from Windows 95, select the Telnet icon from the Cisco Suite 100 Program group in the Start menu.

To start Telnet from Windows 3.x, double-click the Telnet icon in the Cisco Suite 100 group.

The Connect dialog box appears.

You can connect to a remote host in any of the following ways:

The following section explains how to connect to a host by specifying a host in the Connect dialog box. "Setting up Telnet Profiles" on page 213 explains how to create profiles so that you can connect by selecting a profile in the Connect dialog box or the Quick Connect list.

To end a Telnet session:

  1. Log out of the remote host.
  2. In the File menu, click Close to close the Telnet application window or click the Exit toolbar button.

    Note

    If you enable the Exit on Disconnect option, the Telnet session will end when you log out.

  3. If you did not log out first, Telnet presents a dialog box asking you to confirm that you want to close the Telnet session. Click OK to close the Telnet session.
