3 Getting Started with Cisco TCP/IP Suite for Windows

This chapter presents a step-by-step introduction to the most commonly used Cisco TCP/IP Suite applications and brief descriptions of the others. For information about other features of these applications and information about setting application options, see the Using Cisco TCP/IP Suite for Windows guide or the online help.

Note

If you install only the Cisco TCP/IP Stack, some of the applications described in this chapter will not be available to you.

The examples in this book use a workstation running Windows 95. On workstations running Windows 3.1 or 3.11, Cisco TCP/IP Suite programs look similar. The workstation is configured as a Novell NetWare client on an Ethernet LAN. Routing and domain name services are available on the network; and UNIX or OpenVMS hosts on the network provide FTP, Telnet, and NFS services.
