This year’s Real Food results are in! Carleton remains one of the highest scorers in sustainable sourcing among US colleges. Thank you to the Real Food Calculator (RFC) team, volunteers, Bon App, the CCCE, and the Sustainability Office for continuing to work to make our food more sustainable, humane, fair trade, and local.

It’s hard to believe fall term is already coming to an end! This fall was an exciting time for the Sustainability Office. We welcomed two new STAs to our team, Becca Horwitz ’22 and Madhav Mohan ’22. With eleven STAs total working in four focus groups (energy, waste, food, outreach), our office was busy working on various projects and events this term.

The last time the college made a similar shift in its utilities was over 100 years ago when the campus—originally heated with fireplaces or coal furnaces in individual buildings—constructed the central steam plant being used today.
