Weitz Cinema has a limited number of assistive technology devices available for those with impaired hearing or vision. Occasionally, older film titles may be shown that predate the technology and are not compatible. To assure that all titles can be enjoyed by everyone on campus, each Saturday, the movies will be open-captioned. Assistive devices will still be available both days for those who need them.

Checking Out the Devices
No reservation is needed to check out one or more of the assistive devices in the Weitz Cinema, although prior notice can be helpful to the projectionist. Students who need to use one or both devices can pick them up at the projectionist booth. It is helpful to arrive early to ease the set-up of the devices while the house lights are up. Students who arrive after the lights are down should enter the theater on the second floor by the projectionist’s booth. The projectionist should be able to assist with the device set up in the dark.
Students using assistive technology will need to check out the device by submitting their OneCard to the projectionist for the duration of the movie. The device should be returned at the end of the movie. When it is returned, the student’s OneCard will be returned. The devices may not leave Weitz Cinema.
Members of the general public are allowed to use the devices. In lieu of a OneCard, the device will be checked out by non-students by submitting a driver’s license to the projectionist. Assistive technology will be available on a first come, first served basis.
Please fill out the form below if you would like to reserve devices for SUMO showings.
Other showings in the Weitz Cinema may have their own reservation forms.
