What drew you to Carleton College? “I am so excited to be joining the Carleton community! From the moment I stepped onto Carleton’s campus, it was clear that this was a place that cultivated passion and curiosity. I attended a small liberal arts college in Minnesota and was able to benefit from the resources, relationships, and learning both in and out of the classroom. I hope to be a part of making this place a safe place for students to learn and grow.”

Briefly describe your role at Carleton. “Things in life can get complicated! My role is to work alongside students to address any range of complex situations. Whether it be navigating healthcare decisions, accessing mental health care, or figuring out which campus clubs might bring joy, I help students to identify resources and support them in making a plan that best meets their needs.”

What excites you most about being part of the Carleton community? “I am passionate about making higher education and healthcare systems more accessible for students. Before coming to Carleton, I spent five years working for TRIO programs in Central Minnesota and two years as a therapist for students at the University of Colorado in Boulder. I am excited to bring my experience in these settings to Carleton College. I am also excited for an Autumn walk through the arb!”

Raaid Iqbal
Raaid Iqbal ‘27

Raaid Iqbal ‘27 (he/him/his)
Resident Assistant in Residential Life for 1st/Basement Nourse
Major: Computer Science with a potential double major in Statistics
Hometown: Lahore, Pakistan

Raaid is a library student worker alum as both a shelver and desk worker. Raaid is a member of MOSAIC and likes to workout at the Recreation Center with friends.

What is one thing you want people to know about RAs? “I believe that RAs are incredibly understanding and can support our residents,—and any student, for that matter—through [our] experiences at Carleton, without judgment. While residents can approach us at any time, we can also connect them with more specialized resources on campus, whether they need medical assistance, career advice, or something else.”

Raaid had an amazing experience as a resident on 1st Goodhue as a first-year, and he aims to create a similarly inclusive community as a Resident Assistant (RA) by hosting exciting events with food and engaging activities. Additionally, he wants to encourage anyone who needs advice or just wants someone to talk to to reach out to their RA!

I am passionate about health and promoting well-being, and this role allows me to fulfill those passions. Being a peer leader gives me the opportunity to actively contribute to shaping a culture of health and well-being at Carleton, fostering an environment where public health principles are integrated into daily life.”

After Carleton Bella plans to get a masters in public health and work in health policy. Another thing Bella loves is to crochet!
