Chosen Family: A Ballroom Perspective Panel with Vogue Down Minneapolis

In this panel we will be sharing our community's perspective on the power of chosen family. Where it came from in Ballroom culture, How to build and sustain connections, and The importance of safety and care practices. This is an interactive panel where the audience will have a chance to interact with us and their classmates. We will share films like “Queen” highlighting the beginnings of ballroom. The panel will conclude with a discussion on the future of queer art - ballroom, drag ect and how we as a community can sustain our future and uplift our history. 

Vogue Down Mpls 

Vogue Down Minneapolis is a collective of Black artists and community members that provide safe spaces for BIPOC LGBTQIA+ folks to connect with Ballroom culture VDM believes in the importance of ballroom history as it transformative Black American Queer History.
