A talk by Erica Staab-Absher (the Director of HOPE Center) about living with HOPE following sexual assault and being a good friend and ally for those who may want extra support. This event is presented by the Carleton Center for Community and Civic Engagement (CCCE).
HOPE (Healing Outreach Prevention Education) Center is an organization dedicated to supporting victims of domestic violence with many different aspects of life (including a SafeLine, emergency housing, counseling, and legal services), spending time training volunteers, decreasing the total cases of domestic violence, and educating the public. Some Carleton students are involved with their Safeline.
Erica Staab-Absher is the director of HOPE Center, the sexual assault and domestic violence advocacy agency for Rice County. In her role and throughout her 25 year career, she has helped people find hope after assault, learn more about healing the body, the brain and the heart. She is interested in the mind body connection, why we hurt and how we heal. She also LOVES to answer questions, so bring any questions you have, no topic is off limits. Come spend 40 minutes learning more about how to help your friends and your community and move one step closer to a community without sexual violence.
