Cassat Hall was built as one of a pair of residence halls as a memorial for Carleton students who served in the US military. Cassat, built in 2008, is a four story building located on the southeast side of campus and is linked to James Hall by an underground tunnel. Cassat houses students from all class years, all living in traditional single and double rooms.
Cassat was designed with a focus on sustainability and is LEED Gold certified. There are kitchens on each residential floor located next to floor lounges. There are nine study rooms in the building, as well as a game room and an additional kitchen located in the basement. Cassat is located near the Mini Bald Spot and is close to the Language and Dining Center and Cowling Gymnasium.
