Break Housing Expectations for Students

Staying on campus during College Break Periods is not guaranteed as part of enrollment and only available for students who have a verified reason to be on campus.  During break, all Carleton College policies apply and can be found at go.carleton.edu/handbook. Some additional policies apply. Please read below for instructions and guidelines.

Failure to adhere to policies and guidelines may result in termination of your Break Housing reservation.

IMPORTANT HOUSING DATES & CANCELLATION POLICY

Changes or cancellations to a reservation must be sent to reslife@carleton.edu by August 14. Once a bill has been posted to the account, a refund may not be granted. See confirmation email for all reservation details.

Students who do not have a Fall Term on-campus housing assignment are not eligible for Summer Section III Housing.

Summer Section II students who have been approved to remain in break housing through to the start of Fall Term must be available between Sunday, August 23- Friday, August 28 to move to their Fall Term room. Specific move-date information will be sent via email mid August.

ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS

Review the Housing Transition Instructions in your Break Housing Confirmation email, which outlines when keys can be picked up and move in details. Weekend arrivals are not permitted.

Students are not permitted to pick up a key or move in prior to their approved arrival date.

Residential Life is closed on weekends and therefore cannot coordinate arrivals. Students who arrive after hours (M-F 9:00am to 4:30pm) on their approved arrival date should first contact their roommate to gain access to the room. Students can then visit the Residential Life office during the next business day to pick up the key. If coordinating with a roommate is not possible, contact Security at 507.222.4444 as an interim option.
