College-owned micro-fridges must be properly defrosted and cleaned twice annually to ensure that ice accumulation and mold growth does not occur. Please read the step by step instructions below to properly service your micro-fridge during Fall Term closing and Spring Term closing.

Cleaning Your Micro-Fridge

  1. Unplug the unit.
  2. Remove ALL contents (dispose of perishable items before departing for break).
  3. Arrange towels or drip tray around the bottom of the unit and inside the freezer box.
  4. Remove any ice build up in the freezer as it begins to thaw. Do not chip at ice as you may damage the unit.
  5. Dispose of ice chunks in a sink and not in a waste bin.
  6. Wipe the unit dry. Cleaning solution is available in your community custodial closet.
  7. Replace non-perishable items such as condiments.
  8. Plug the unit back in.
