Each term, the residential halls and houses close for break. Students living in on-campus housing must review and complete all end of term action items prior to departing for break. Select the tab below that best describes your end of term plans. Each tab outlines specific steps to complete before you depart campus.

Winter Term Closing

Tuesday, March 18 at 2:00pm

After 2:00pm, only approved Break Residents will be allowed access to the residential spaces. If you are eligible for break housing, review Break Housing Information and apply by the deadline.

Regardless of Break Housing status, all rooms will be checked by Residential Life Staff as part of Residential Life’s End of Term procedures.

I am returning to the same room after break…

I have been approved to change rooms…

Students who have been approved to change rooms must completely vacate their current assignment by 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 18. Once the current room is vacated, students may choose one of two options below to move into their next term room assignment.

  1. Students who have been approved to move in with peers who are already established in a room may coordinate to move items directly into that space before departing campus for break. Please leave your items packed, labeled, and towards the perimeter of the room. You will not receive a key to that room until the start of next term. Students can coordinate to begin moving their personal belongings into the room as early as reading and exam days.
  2. Utilize student storage. Students moving into a single room or into a fully vacated space must use storage as the room will not be available until the following term.

Complete the steps below before leaving campus. Failing to complete the steps below will result in an Improper Checkout Fee.

  • Remove all of your belongings from your room.
  • Remove all trash and recyclables to outside containers.
  • Vacuum and wipe down surfaces.

ROOM CONDITION CHARGES

Students are responsible for all activity which occurs in their assigned residential space as outlined in the Conditions of Occupancy. Rooms are assessed at various points throughout the year to ensure these conditions are being met.
