Description: Position overview including purpose of the position within the College:
This position is responsible for managing events in all venues at The Weitz Center for Creativity. Workers in this position will be trained as projectionists for the Weitz Cinema, serve as House Managers for live performances, staff the Weitz Box Office, and occasionally usher for events in Kracum Performance Hall.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities/Duties:

House Manager and Box Office Staff:

  • Welcome and check-in guests as they arrive for performances, and provide friendly, supportive service to patrons of the Weitz
  • Print the list of reserved ticket-holders prior to opening the Box Office — maintain a Wait List as needed
  • Assist with patron seating in the theater/dance studio
  • Assist patrons in locating restrooms and emergency exits as needed
  • Stay in communication with Stage Manager of performance regarding House open times, intermission times, and any specific requests for the performance
  • File a post-show report.

Usher for Kracum Performance Hall:

  • Greet guests
  • Hand out programs
  • Answer guest questions
  • Assist the House Manager as needed

Cinema Projectionist:

  • Run films in the cinema and assist hosts with their events
  • Open the Cinema
  • Project the film
  • Remain in the projection booth for the duration of the show
  • Troubleshoot any equipment problems
  • Close the Cinema
  • File a post-show report.

This position’s hours are not set weekly and is based on the varied performance schedule. (Typically about 20 hours per term.) Known performances would be May 2-5 and May 17 & 19. Some other opportunities may come up and would be offered to Event Managers prior to scheduling for a shift.
