Objective of the position:
The After School Site Assistant assists Club Leaders in curriculum-based programming or leads various activities for K-5 students, such as homework help, outdoor games, STEAM-focused clubs, etc. Assists in preparing the site for evening activities; enforces program behavioral rules and safety.
Duties
- Interact with students in grades K-5 in a variety of academic activities, including math, literacy, science, arts, and social emotional learning.
- Manage the behavior of students to ensure their safety & comfort, as well as compliance with behavioral guidelines of the program.
- Assist with large group learning facilitation and lead small group learning activities.
- Adjust program activities and assist students with special needs, disabilities, maturation and skills differences.
- Assist with the physical set-up and clean up of program areas.
- Stay fully engaged with students and other staff during scheduled hours.
- Commit to work scheduled hours every week as a Site Assistant.
- Keep regular communication with the Community School Coordinator.
- Attend training sessions.
- Meet all program expectations, including paperwork, background check, standards of conduct and attendance policies.

Hours
- Site Assistants will be assigned weekly hours based on their availability and the need of the program. Site Assistants commonly work 6-8 hrs/wk in this position, though more or less hours are negotiable. Assigned hours are not to exceed the students’ awarded hours, a maximum of 8 hrs/wk for first-year students, 10 hrs/wk for sophomores through seniors
- Work hours are on-site; at all 3 Community School sites from Monday through Thursday, 3pm-5pm and each school has evening programming one night a week.
Evaluation will occur at the end of each academic year.
Transportation to off campus work site
Students are responsible for getting themselves to and from their work site and they may be compensated for travel time. The school locations are accessible using the Hiawathaland Express Route, the Northfield Lines Blue Route or the Carlsgo! Shuttle Service.
