What do you do in this position?

I work one-on-one with students in a variety of disciplines to help them improve their writing.

How did you get your position?

I applied to work at the writing center in the spring of my sophomore year and was interviewed for the position after I applied.

What new skills have you acquired?

I think that my experience as a writing consultant has taught me how to be a better and more compassionate listener. I’ve also grown as a writer by coming to better understand my own process, strengths, and challenges.

How will your student employment experience help you in your future?

I think that I am better equipped to quickly set goals for interpersonal interactions and help other people identify and address their own needs.

What type of person do you feel is best suited for this position?

I think that great writing consultants are attentive listeners who enjoy engaging with people about their ideas.

What do you like best about your student employment position?

I really enjoy having the chance to meet people who I might not otherwise have the chance to work with. as well as the opportunity to help people feel more confident about their writing.
