The 43rd annual Midwinter Ball is scheduled for Saturday, February 4, 2023, 9:30pm-12:30am. Semi-formal attire requested. This is a private event for currently-enrolled Carleton students and their guests. Advance guest registration required (see below).
The event takes place simultaneously in three different locations: Sayles-Hill (Great Space), Severance Hall (Great Hall) and Severance Hall (Tea Room). Great Hall will host the Roseville Big Band, a 19 piece swing band who have performed at Midwinter Ball since 1994. The Tea Room will host Salsa Del Soul, a 9 piece orchestra that performs various styles of dance music from the Spanish-speaking regions of the Caribbean. They have performed at Midwinter Ball since 2010.
Great Space will host a variety of student DJs performing current music and classic favorites. The Black Student Alliance (BSA) will offer a free photo booth in Sayles 251 and Fellowship in Christ/Mustard Seed will provide a free coat check in Sayles-Hill Lounge (Upper Sayles). Pizza provided throughout the event by members of the Student Activities Programming Board (SAPB) and Model UN. A free shuttle bus from Northfield Lines will run continuously around campus during the event. Check your email for exact pick-up/drop-off locations.
Midwinter Ball Student DJs
There will be a total of 5 DJs with 2 alternates. Each DJ set will be 30 minutes in length. Mandatory soundcheck/training will be at 8:00 p.m., night of the event. At this meeting we will discuss transitions between each DJ, test connectivity (e.g., phone, laptop), and introduce the tech support staff. Note: Please be considerate when choosing your set list, as some song lyrics may be offensive to others. Questions? Email SAO@carleton.edu
Midwinter Ball Guest Registration
Midwinter Ball is a private event for Carleton students and their guests. Those who are not currently enrolled must be sponsored by a current student and register in advance. Students and registered guests will be provided a wristband to enter each music venue (i.e., Sayles, Sevy, Team Room). Guest registration will close at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4 (night of event).
Current students: To register a guest, please log-in below and complete the form. Guests will receive an email to complete an online release of liability waiver. This waiver must be completed by your guest no later than 5:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4 or they will not be admitted. Please follow up with your guest to confirm they have completed the waiver. As the host, you are responsible for the actions of your guest. Guests must be 18 years of age or older. One guest may be registered per current student. Duplicate registrations will be deleted.
On the night of the event, please stop by the Office of Health Promotion (Sayles 162) to receive a wristband for your guest. Guest must present a government-issued photo ID as proof of age (18+). This wristband must be worn at all times during Midwinter Ball. Questions? Email SAO@carleton.edu
