One of Carleton’s beloved traditions involves local florists in Northfield. Each Friday, local florists set up shop in Sayles Hill Campus Center and bring flowers and plants to campus to sell to students. Students buy each other flowers to say thank you, to recognize someone’s achievement, to celebrate a birthday, or just to brighten a friend’s day. Many students find a flower tucked into their mailbox as a special surprise. (Enjoy this brief video of Friday Flowers on campus!)
Northfield has two florists who are scheduled throughout the year.

In addition to Friday Flowers, the local florists are invited to campus for various events during the year. Parents have enjoyed the opportunity to purchase flowers during Family Weekend during Fall term and graduation is a popular time for flowers as well. Parents and loved ones who wish to send their student flowers can do so by contacting either of the florists.
