WOC+ Bonfire Night
WOC+ wants to host a bonfire event on October 26th, where we will be making s'mores, as across cultures there are different ways of storytelling and we want women and non-binary students of color to bond by telling ghost stories and sharing how in their families and cultures they use fire to build a tight community. The s'mores will act as representation of some cultural aspects: the chocolate will be the sweet and melting feelings of love that will be fostered during the event as we want the students to feel closer to each other, the marshmallows will represent the softness and vulnerability students will probably feel when sharing childhood memories and sentiments that are not often expressed to others, the graham crackers will represent the tough but easily breakable tension that new students and returning students feel when meeting new people, the type of tension that we want to get rid of by hosting our event.
