Carleton Farm Day, Open House and Farm Stand
Join the Carleton Farm and Dacie Moses to explore opportunities to connect your class, office, or student club to our local food system and foster a community of caring. Student farmers will serve as tour guides and hosts of activities. Dr. Amanda Sames, Carleton’s farm manager, brings expertise in sustainable agriculture, local food systems, and food justice and collaborating to integrate the farm into the curriculum, intern projects, and student clubs.
This is an opportunity to explore collaboration with the farm. The open house will include goodies made at Dacie Moses using farm ingredients. It will also gather and share the ideas and interests participants have for connecting around community food interests and concerns. And an on-farm produce stand will replace our usual stand in Sayles for this week only!
Open Farm Day Schedule
Come by any time between 10am-5pm to see the farm, take a tour, make connections, or enjoy a few snacks or chat with representatives of the farm and Dacie’s. The following events will take place throughout the day
- All day: Sample snacks made at Dacie Moses featuring farm grown ingredients! Lay a brick to help us build our new compost bins.
- 10-11:30: Harvesting! Join our student farmers as they harvest produce for the farm stand. Pop in for a few minutes, or for the full period. Harvest baskets will be provided.
- Noon-5pm: Farm Stand. Our usually weekly farm stand in Sayles will move out to the farm with extended hours this week only. We will return to Sayles for all remaining farm stands, but on Open Farm Day, our produce will only be available onsite at the farm.
- 4-5pm: Volunteer hour. Help the student farmers with a few fall tasks which may include weeding, field clean out, building compost bins and more.
