The Education and Curriculum Committee (ECC) oversees the regular assessment of Carleton’s six institution-level student learning outcomes. Following a plan approved in 2011, the ECC reviews one student learning outcome (SLO) each year on a regular assessment cycle. In 2020, the ECC reviewed SLO #5, examining the evidence that Carleton graduates can “communicate and argue effectively.” In 2021, the ECC reviewed SLO #3, examining the evidence that “graduates should be able to analyze evidence.”
