Announcing New Group to Oversee Carleton People Data

26 July 2022

Carleton stores a lot of information about the people who make up our community, including admissions prospects, current students, parents, faculty, staff, and alums. Groups and offices across campus use this information for a wide variety of purposes; we couldn’t function as a college without it. While we want to keep robust information, we also don’t want to store anything we don’t need, and we want to ensure that the information we do keep is consistent across all our campus applications. The Workday implementation gives us both an opportunity to review what data we store and the responsibility to ensure that it’s being kept secure and used in appropriate ways.

To help accomplish this, we’ve formed a new group called the People Data Consulting Group (PDCG). The members represent both the major software applications that are considered authoritative for data about people (Slate for Admissions; Colleague/Workday for current students, faculty, and staff; and Advance for alums and parents) and the areas of the college that make the most heavy use of that data. The PDCG has started looking at some specific data questions for the Workday implementation, and will continue to address questions as they come up. If you have questions about this new group, you can reach out to Austin Robinson-Coolidge in the Registrar’s Office.

The group consists of:

  • Austin Robinson-Coolidge Registrar’s Office (Convener),
  • Kerstin Cardenas (Human Resources)
  • Tammy Anderson (Dean of Students)
  • Carla Thomas (External Relations)
  • Jaime Anthony (Admissions)
  • Peggy Pfister (Provost’s Office)
  • Mavis Gustafson (ITS)
