Meet our new Russian LA, Marina Zaitseva!

I’m back in Minnesota, working as book and paper conservator at the Minnesota Historical Society as of February. After graduation, I moved to the DC area and did AmeriCorps Vista for a year, which led to several jobs as a grant-writer at various non-profits.

After returning to DC in 2011, I got a job at an international non-profit called Internews where I’ve stayed ever since. I work on a team managing media development programs in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. I get to use my Russian every day and travel to places I might otherwise have never gone, like Kyrgyzstan and Moldova. Outside of work, I run a monthly cooking class and blog called The Georgian Table and am getting into audio documentary storytelling.

Well, truth be told, they did, but they came back, and they left not for the reason that most immediately comes to mind.

Three of nine 2016 Carleton Fulbright Fellowships were awarded to students who had studied Russian.

Julian Kytasty, a Ukranian-American musician, composer, and conductor, has been invited to speak and perform at Carleton. Wednesday, January 27, Kytasty will be giving a lecture on Ukrainian culture and global identity, specifically within a musical context.
