Alek Pochan, 2026

Hey, I’m Alek and I’m thrilled to be a Religion SDA this year. I’m from Landenberg, Pennsylvania, where I enjoy playing music with my twin brother Hugo and counseling at my old summer camp. I am interested in lived religion approaches, especially regarding American religion and childhood & development. I’m also a captain of the Karls frisbee team, and play piano for some stuff in the music department. Everyone at this school who enjoys thinking critically about their life should become a Religion major; ask me why if you see me in the hallway.

Iris Steiner-Manning, 2026
I’m Iris (she/her), a senior religion major and statistics minor from St. Paul. At Carleton, I play frisbee, work at the writing center, and host a bunch of KRLX shows. I’m super interested in studying American religion and lived religion—this summer, I’m doing research on sacred space on Bornholm, an island in Denmark. I love being a religion major and I’m so excited to be one of your SDAs this year. Feel free to reach out with any questions about the department (or just to chat!).
Annie Wiener, 2026

Hi! My name is Annie and I’m a senior Religion major and Middle East Studies minor from Concord, MA. I’m the Student Director of Tour Guides and love to tell prospective students how amazing the Religion department is. I’ve studied abroad twice, and on one program took Religion classes at the University of London. Please reach out with any questions or to say hi, and I’m looking forward to seeing you all in the Religion lounge this year!
