You are invited to a screening of the documentary Divorce Iranian Style this Friday at 4-6p.m. in Styles Lounge.
Most Muslim-majority countries today have secular legal systems that are informed by Islam but are not based on Islamic law. The area in which Islamic law continues to be predominantly operative is in the area of personal status law. This film documents several cases of divorce from different segments of Iranians society at the end of twentieth century. It’s an opportunity for you to see Islamic law in practice in a state that defines itself as Islamic.
