The Objects That Remain - Criminal Evidence, Holocaust Artifacts, & the Work of Doing Justice

Thu, November 9, 2023 • 12:00pm - 1:00pm (1h) • Leighton 305

The Objects That Remain is equal parts personal memoir and fascinating examination of the ways in which the material remains of violent crimes inform our experience of, and thinking about trauma and loss.  Dr. Levitt's story moves between intimate trauma and the Holocaust.  Throughout, she asks what it might mean to do justice to these violent pasts.

Dr. Laura Levitt is Professor of Religion, Jewish Studies and Gender at Temple University where she has chaired the Religion Department and directed both the Jewish Studies and Gender Sexuality on Women's Studies Programs.  She will be teaching at Carleton in Winter and Spring 2024 as a Benedict Distinguished Visiting Professor.

Pizza provided.
