Your Carleton Diploma
Your diploma is an official document that recognizes the completion of your degree requirements. This page includes information about receiving your diploma, replacements, the English translations of the Latin diploma, and notarization or apostille requests.

When will I receive my diploma?
Students graduating at the end of spring term receive their diplomas at June Commencement. If you do not attend Commencement, your diploma will be mailed to you.
For students who graduate after the fall or winter terms, transcripts will reflect degree completion and the official award date even though diplomas may not be issued until June.
Students who complete degree requirements outside the traditional academic cycle will receive their diplomas by mail after their degree has been officially awarded and recorded on their transcript.
Can I get a replacement diploma?
If your diploma is lost or damaged, you have the option to request a replacement diploma. There will be a charge of $40 and the turnaround time is 2-4 weeks.
Please complete the Diploma Replacement form, sign it, and submit it to Maria Reverman either via email or by mailing it to 1 North College St, Northfield, MN 55057.
Carleton’s diploma is in Latin. What is the English translation?
The official translation of Carleton’s diploma is as follows:
The President and Trustees of Carleton College, to all who shall happen to read this document, Greeting in the Lord.
Be it known that it has pleased us, in consideration of their merits, to confer upon ____________________________ the title and degree of Bachelor of Arts, and that we have granted to them all honors, authorities, insignia, rights, and privileges which here and everywhere pertain to the degree.
In testimony whereof, let the Public Seal of the College and the Signatures of the Officers be appended to this document at Northfield, Minnesota, on the _______ day of the month of ____________, and in the year _______________.
Can you certify my diploma or help me get an apostille?
Yes. We can help with notarized diploma copies and apostille requests for international use.
A notarized copy certifies that the diploma is a true and exact copy of the original document.
An apostille is issued by the State of Minnesota to authenticate the notarization for use in another country. Apostille requests typically take 2–3 weeks to process through the Minnesota Secretary of State.
