Client Testimonials
“After years of being in and out of physical therapy for scoliosis and degenerative disc disease, I came to Jenna for weekly strength training. I appreciated the level of thought and care Jenna put into my workouts. She also emailed me each weekly series so I could repeat it on my own at home.
Though it wasn’t my initial goal, I also built core strength which drastically lowered my injury rate. I am thankful for Jenna’s patience with me and how she has challenged me in a supportive way! More than any other method I have tried, working with Jenna has helped me build strength and virtually eliminate my chronic pain.”
“I have been working out with Thad over my lunch hour for 3 1/2 years and I’ve come to realize, for me, this is one of the single most important benefits that Carleton offers for many reasons.
First, Thad has been a great coach for me and everyone else in our class. Thad is very good at pushing us past our mental blocks to show us that we can do more. As a result, all of us are much more fit. I never would have guessed that in my mid 40’s I would be in the best shape of my entire life! I am more productive at getting stuff done around the house and I have more energy for doing things with my boys. An added benefit is that I will never forget the way my grandma-in-law’s jaw dropped open when my wife lifted up my shirt to show her my abs!
Aside from building my muscles, Thad and his crossfit classes have had a positive impact on my family as well. Thad has been a great resource for diet recommendations since exercise and diet are so closely linked. As a result, my diet has steadily improved over the last 3 years, and since I am the one who does most of the cooking in my house, my family is eating much healthier! Also, my workout regimen motivated my wife to start a workout program of her own, and my middle son decided to become active in after school sports trying track and tennis in the last year, with plans to participate in cross country in the fall.
Most of my adult life I have had a chronic hip issue which caused me routine pain and frequent trips to the chiropractor. Thad’s class has taught me correct form for the lifts, which in turn has strengthened the muscles for good posture. He has also taught us the importance of mobility to keep our joints healthy and frequently gives us stretches and mobility exercises to work on during class and on our own. I can happily say that I have not seen the chiropractor in over 5 months and the number of yearly visits has dropped dramatically over the last 2 1/2 years. My goal is not to see my chiropractor in 2017!
A less obvious benefit of Thad’s class is that it is a great cross section of Carleton students, faculty, and staff. I have developed friendships with people at Carleton I never would have met otherwise and these friendships have also benefited my job. I’ve been able to help a professor with his writing assistant, line up a grant writer to give a presentation to our writing consultants, and work with the help desk manager to problem solve an IT issue my office was having, all while attending this class.”
