Appointment (1:1) Tutoring
New in 2025! Students can now make an appointment to meet with a tutor one-on-one during QRC hours, Sunday-Thursday 4-10 pm. View the schedule of tutors and make an appointment.
Students can also request to have a tutor assigned to them, with whom they set up a time to meet once or twice a week for the term. Note that private, assigned tutoring is free of charge, but dependent on the availability of a qualified tutor. The tutor will work with you to set goals and a weekly recurring schedule. Request a private tutor and a QRC staff member or tutor will respond to you within 1-3 business days.
Drop-In Tutoring
Students can also drop in for help any time tutors are available, Sun-Thurs 4-10 pm. Priority is given to students with appointments. If the tutor is with another student, you may be asked to wait, although there are often multiple tutors working. See the schedules below to search by tutor, course experience, or software/programming language. Tutor bios are also available for more information.
In-person services will adhere to the current Carleton guidelines for COVID-19 safety. Tutors reserve the right to request additional precautions such as masks.

Comps Appointment
[unavailable Fall 2025 — comps students should check the tutor calendar to find a good fit]
Our comps consultants are specialized, experienced tutors who are senior Statistics majors. Once you have acquired your data, they can help with many stages of the data lifecycle, from formatting and wrangling, to troubleshooting software and code, to visualizing and writing up results accurately and concisely. Appointments allow the comps consultants to prepare for the meeting, offer undivided attention, and meet in multiple stages if needed.
Check out the appointment calendar for upcoming slots with one of our comps consultants. If none are available, please check back in a few days or come to Drop-In Tutoring.
Request a private tutor for coursework instead of comps and a staff member will get back to you shortly.
Weekly Data/DH Drop-Ins
Faculty and staff: Need help working with data and not sure where to go? Every Wednesday 3-4:30, faculty and staff who work with data from a range of expertise hold drop-in hours in the QRC. You’ll find the Digital Humanities team, academic technologists, data librarians, and the QRC director there, all in one place. Get help with your research, brainstorm course assignments, and meet other people working with data and DH across campus.
Monthly Graph Clinics
Are you a staff member who collects or reports on data for your office? The first Tuesday of every month during common time, the QRC Director is available to consult on communicating about data more effectively. Staff can bring data, graphs, previous presentations, or reports, or just come to brainstorm new data-related projects. Drop by the QRC or Zoom.
