Queer Mental Health Collective: Black Queer and Trans History
Black Queer and Trans History, will highlight influential Black queer and trans figures across media, including film, television, podcasts, and other creative work made by Black queer and trans folx. We’ll spend time engaging with these examples and then facilitate a group discussion focused on representation in the media and its impact on mental health and community.
The Queer Mental Health Collective at Carleton College is a safe space for LGBTQIA+ students to form community through conversation and actively supporting one another’s mental health and wellbeing. We believe shared spaces can be healing for those living with the effects of queer/transphobia and other social injustices at individual, community and systemic levels.
The Queer Mental Health Collective is led by staff from Student Health and Counseling, the Office of Health Promotion, and the Gender & Sexuality Center.
