During summer 2019, Carleton hosted a stop on the Minnesota Humanities Center’s traveling exhibit, “We Are Water MN.” The exhibit, which the Minnesota Humanities Center developed with a number of statewide partners, encouraged visitors to consider the meanings and experiences of water in Minnesota, and to reflect on their own connections and interactions with water.

Although much of the core exhibit remained the same from place to place, local partners had the opportunity to add supplemental materials about water locally. At Carleton, Charles L. Denison Professor of Geology Mary Savina was crucial in preparing for the exhibit’s stop in Northfield, both preparing materials and coordinating events to encourage local engagement.
