For the fifteenth year in a row, Empty Bowls served soup to students while simultaneously raising money for the Northfield Community Action Center Food Shelf. Spearheaded by Professor of Art Kelly Connole, the project involved Carleton’s Center for Community and Civic Engagement, Northfield Community Action Center Food Shelf, and students in Professor Connole’s Ceramics class, who assisted in the creation of ceramic bowls for the event. For this year’s edition of the event, Professor Connole worked to make it more sustainable for the years to come and reflected on how the project has impacted her own pedagogy.
