November 2-3, 2017

Assistant Professor of German Juliane Schicker and Carleton German alumna and Public Works Program Associate 2017-2019 Briannon Carlsen ’17 traveled to Leipzig, Germany to celebrate the opening of the archives of the International Kurt Masur Institute. Kurt Masur was a prominent German conductor of the twentieth century, and the Institute was established to preserve his memory.

Professor Schicker, assisted by students that included Carlsen, contributed an archive of historical videos to the Institute. The video footage was transcribed and then translated into English so it can be shared more broadly. In recognition of their contributions, the Institute invited Professor Schicker and her student collaborators to the Institute’s opening in Leipzig.
