Professor Bill North partnered with the Learning and Teaching Center to host a book discussion about the value of the liberal arts in the many worlds of work. Participants in the book group read Christina Madsbjerg’s Sensemaking: The Power of the Humanities in the Age of the Algorithm (2017), and Randall Stross’ A Practical Education: Why Liberal Arts Majors Make Great Employees (2017).

These two books served as catalysts for reflection on the meaning of the liberal arts in the digital age and ways in which STEM and social and humanistic disciplines can interact to the benefit of student learning and success in the world of work.
