Before you submit your proposal:

Read over the FAQs and funding information on the Public Works website

Consult with all relevant staff members, e.g. in CCCE, Library, or Academic Technology

  • Have staff indicated that Carleton has or will have the resources (physical and personnel) available to complete the work that you have planned?
  • Have you indicated specifically what additional training or other resources that the staff at Carleton may be required to help with your project?
  • If your project involves digital humanities, please consult Austin Mason.
  • If your project involves academic civic engagement or community partners, please consult Sinda Nichols.
  • If your project involves public art related projects, please consult Steve Richardson.
  • If you are unsure where your project fits or have general questions, please consult the Public Works’ co-directors.

Consult carefully with all of those who are included in your proposal.

  • Have you clearly identified the community partner(s) with whom you will be working, and have you indicated accurately their level of interest/commitment to the project in your application? (Seek additional help from the co-directors or staff if you need assistance.)
  • Are all of your Carleton-based partners identified in your proposal?
  • Have you already chosen a student researcher?  If so, indicate their skills and the benefits that this work will have for them in your proposal.

Read over the reporting form that is on the website.

  • Are you willing to fulfill all of the reporting obligations that are indicated?
  • Do you understand the relevant stipend payment schedule, reimbursement plan, or travel arrangements that apply to your proposal?
