Before you submit your proposal:
Read over the FAQs and funding information on the Public Works website
- Does your proposal fit well within at least one major aspect of the initiative? (See a description of public scholarship.)
- Have you indicated which types of funding you have requested (e.g. stipend vs. travel)?
Consult with all relevant staff members, e.g. in CCCE, Library, or Academic Technology
- Have staff indicated that Carleton has or will have the resources (physical and personnel) available to complete the work that you have planned?
- Have you indicated specifically what additional training or other resources that the staff at Carleton may be required to help with your project?
- If your project involves digital humanities, please consult Austin Mason.
- If your project involves academic civic engagement or community partners, please consult Sinda Nichols.
- If your project involves public art related projects, please consult Steve Richardson.
- If you are unsure where your project fits or have general questions, please consult the Public Works’ co-directors.
Consult carefully with all of those who are included in your proposal.
- Have you clearly identified the community partner(s) with whom you will be working, and have you indicated accurately their level of interest/commitment to the project in your application? (Seek additional help from the co-directors or staff if you need assistance.)
- Are all of your Carleton-based partners identified in your proposal?
- Have you already chosen a student researcher? If so, indicate their skills and the benefits that this work will have for them in your proposal.
Read over the reporting form that is on the website.
- Are you willing to fulfill all of the reporting obligations that are indicated?
- Do you understand the relevant stipend payment schedule, reimbursement plan, or travel arrangements that apply to your proposal?
