Neil Lutsky, William R. Kenan Jr. professor of psychology, and Huanchen Cai ’24 presented a paper, “Immersing Introductory Students in the Bracing Waters of a Research Literature,” at the Teaching Pre-Conference of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology annual meeting in Atlanta. The paper described a multifaceted website developed at Carleton to involve students in active psychological science by examining studies on correspondence bias (aka, the fundamental attribution error) as a foundation for research literatures addressing generalization, replicability, cross-cultural comparisons, causal explication and other issues in psychology, including racism in the history of psychology.
