• Julie Neiworth receives NIH grant for primate research

    Julie Neiworth, Professor of Psychology and Director of Neuroscience, was awarded an NIH AREA (Academic Research Enhancement Award) grant for $344,204.00 for the period July 15, 2012 through July 14, 2015. The title is “revisiting challenged findings to determine social and cognitive abilities in tamarins”, and it was funded by the NICHD, under Award # R15HD072751.

    Ken Abrams, Assistant Professor of Psychology, presented a poster co-authored by Emily Snyder ’11 and Kelley Stevens ’11, at the Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) annual convention titled “Does Nicotine Withdrawal Promote Panic? Findings From a Carbon Dioxide Rebreathing Challenge.”

  • Lutsky delivers address at Midwestern Psychological Association

    Neil Lutsky, William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Psychology, presented the Society for the Teaching of Psychology Invited Address at the Midwestern Psychological Association meeting in Chicago on May 4. His talk was titled “Psychological Literacy and its Dis-Contents.” Lutsky also recently served as an external reviewer for the Department of Psychology at Creighton University.

  • Galotti reviews multidisciplinary program at Vassar College

    Kathleen Galotti, Professor of Cognitive Science, served as an invited external reviewer of the multidisciplinary Cognitive Science Program at Vassar College in April. Vassar College was the first undergraduate institution to offer this interdisciplinary program.

    Ken Abrams, Assistant Professor of Psychology, gave a presentation at the annual meeting of the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) in Washington, D.C. titled “Toward Internationalizing the Undergraduate Psychology Curriculum: A Sustainable Model of Inter-Institutional Collaboration.” The presentation was part of an Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) sponsored symposium titled “Sustaining and Sustainable Collaboration: Making an Impact.”

  • Lutsky gives address at Southeastern Teachers of Psychology Conference

    Neil Lutsky William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Psychology, gave an invited address to the annual Southeastern Teachers of Psychology conference held in Atlanta, February 23 through 25. His presentation was titled “Though This Be Madness, Yet There Is Method: Promoting Quantitative Reasoning in the Teaching of Psychology.” In January he also presented a paper, “What’s Luck Got to Do with It? Social Comparison May Account for Superstition’s Effect on Performance,” at the San Diego meeting of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.
