IDSC 203: Talking About Diversity
- Are you interested in learning how to engage in and facilitate conversations about race, gender, class and sexuality? Are you interested in promoting effective dialogue among your peers? Next fall, join IDSC 203: Talking About Diversity, a 6 credit S/CR/NC class. Come learn about these topics through readings and experiential learning. The class uses an interdisciplinary lens (psychology, sociology, American studies, ed studies, etc.) to teach students how to engage in and facilitate meaningful dialogue. The course allows students to practice and develop facilitation skills in both formal and informal contexts. Those who complete the course may apply to co-facilitate their own section of IDSC 103, a student-led course in winter term. Applications are due by May 16, 11:59 PM, but if interested, start thinking about applying now. Note that the date has been corrected from last week’s newsletter, which contained a misprint. Participate in paid psychology research!
The Carleton Perception Lab is recruiting participants! In this study, you will read or listen to speech in noise and be asked to make judgments about it or remember parts of it. Participation will take less than 80 minutes and you will be paid $15. Participants must be 18+ and have no diagnosed hearing impairment. All studies are run in soundproof booths. Sign up whenever is convenient for you.
