Hello seniors! This page features resources to help you on your comps process, from getting permission to collect data to presenting your poster, as well as everything in between. If you have any further questions about anything on this page or if you would like to set up a one-on-one meeting to go over any topic in more detail, please email the Educational Associate, Jade Ogilvie (ogilviej@carleton.edu).
IRB/IACUC Proposals
Is your comps experimental? Does it involve human subjects? Then before you can start collecting data, you’ll probably have to submit a proposal to the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
- The Institutional Review Board website has everything you need to know about whether or not your research requires an IRB proposal, walks you through the process of filling out necessary forms, and even lets you turn in your proposal online.
Does your experimental comps involve animal subjects? These types of studies must be approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). Check with your advisor to see if your study might be covered under a preexisting IACUC application. If not, check out the link below to find out information about how to submit an IACUC application
- The IACUC website will guide you through the steps of completing an IACUC application and allows you to submit the application online.
